Meet the Gamers

The moment he was born, Terry Randolph knew he would play video games. Okay….not the exact moment he was born, but definitely at an early age. His affinity for video games was probably cemented in the multiple tantrums he threw while being dragged away from Sonic the Hedgehod on Sega Saturn at his daycare when his parents came to pick him up. Since that day, Terry still continues to enjoy all of the experiences gaming provides. He also loves to write short stories and ambitious novel projects. Last Token Gaming was born from combining both his love of writing and video games.

Currently playing: Kingdom Heart 1.5 HD Mix (PS3), Halo: Master Chief Collection (Xbox One), Dragon Age: Inquisition (Xbox One), and Fantasy Life (3DS)

Marshall Garvey is a graduate of UC Davis in history, and a gamer since third grade. He has many favorite games, among them “Batman: Arkham City,” “Zelda: Majora’s Mask,” “Resident Evil 4,” “All-Star Baseball 2001,” “Banjo Kazooie,” “Silent Hill 2,” “The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion,” and “Fallout: New Vegas,” among many others. His other interests include baseball, football, boxing, politics, music, movies, jogging, playing trombone, and writing, and he is a devoted fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Sacramento Kings, and New York Jets, among other teams. He recently finished two tenures at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library in Yorba Linda, CA, the first being as an intern at the National Archives wing and the second as a staff writer for the Nixon Foundation. Right now, he’s working on two books for the Sacramento Historical Society, one about the history of baseball in the city and the other about the Governor’s Mansion. He is also the creator of his own trading cards franchise, the United States Presidents Baseball Club, which can be visited at: www.presidentsbaseball.com. You can also see his writing about baseball at: http://www.brushbackpitch.com

Currently playing: WWF No Mercy, Red Dead Redemption, Donkey Kong 64, Perfect Dark (N64)

Since Jake Rushing was able to walk, he was able to play his way through Super Mario World. Well…not at the same time. His love for video games is not meant to die out as he tried kicking his habit of playing video games out of his life only to come back to them at some point like is was destiny. He loves video games so much, he studied Bachelors of Science in Computer Science: Computer Game Design at UC Santa Cruz. When Jake is not working on Android Apps for his company or anything related to Last Token Gaming, he likes to go out to meetup events to socialize with people, ride his bike, and checking out what San Jose has to offer. He loves a lot of video games, but given his background in independent game development and his liking to retro things, he enjoys Independent Games such as FTL, Rogue Legacy, and Castle Crashers as well as enjoying retro games like Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, Donkey Kong Country 2, and Yoshi’s Island. He does his work in hopes that one day that he’ll be able to make games again. Will it ever happen? Only time can tell.

Currently playing: Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Mario Kart 8

Known as his online moniker “Another Gamer,” Isaac Smith is Last Token Gaming’s indie game and game music blogger. He recently graduated with a degree in music composition from Sacramento State. He’s an accomplished gardener and amateur chef. Blogging by the light of the moon, Isaac’s day jobs include giving private lessons, working on composition commissions, and managing Sacramento Youth Symphony’s Premier Orchestra. My name’s Michael Mygind and gaming has been a huge part of my life since the night that my dad brought home a NES Action Set and it has remained close to my heart to this day. Growing up with friends that played what many would consider rival consoles in the 90’s, I learned to appreciate all games and the unique experience that each console can offer. As of a few years ago, I began collecting to preserve that nostalgia and pay tribute to the medium that has always been there for me as an outlet. Through my articles, I hope that I can strike a chord with those that appreciate gaming like I do, specifically that of the retro variety. I am also very involved in the local hardcore punk music scene where I play in a band and have helped run a non-profit DIY music venue since 2009.Currently playing: Capcom vs SNK 2 (Dreamcast Import), Wild Guns (SNES), Deathsmiles (xbox 360), MERCS (Genesis)
